Microsemi Announces the new PowerDsine® PD-5524G EEPoE midspan
Microsemi Corporation has announced its new high-efficiency Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) midspans.
Delivering as much as 30 watts of power to network devices, the Microsemi PowerDsine ® PD-5524G EEPoE midspan is compliant with IEEE802.3at 2009 standards. It can reduce the energy use of network cables by up to 50 per cent by delivering power across all four pairs of CAT5 cabling. This is in comparison to alternative PoE network switches.
The device can control a distributed power architecture, enabling smaller internal power sources to be utilised for real-time requirements and then increased bit-by-bit.
Amir Asvadi, vice president and general manager of the Analog Mixed Signal Group at Microsemi commented: "Our PD-5524G EEPoE midspan extends the industry-leading efficiency of our PowerDsine family by using a smaller internal power supply that can later be augmented with external supplies to increase per-port capacity as power-hungry devices are added to the network."
