Riverbed And Amazon Introduce Enterprise Backup Solution
Riverbed Technology has introduced a cloud-based version of its Riverbed SteelStore software for Amazon Web Services, which provides a cloud data backup and recovery system to protect workloads running the service by backing them up in secondary cloud locations.
A cost effective and secure method of backing up cloud storage, the new cloud-based Riverbed SteelStore system ensures that those using Amazon Web Services have protected their data at the first enterprise-class recovery solution.
According to John Martin, senior vice president and general manager of storage delivery at Riverbed, it is now vital for the service to provide data backup and recovery solutions for customers. He said: “SteelStore for AWS is helping to make next generation storage more secure for customers taking advantage of the AWS cloud.”
SteelStore for Amazon Web Services will allow organisations without a secondary disaster recovery backup location to take advantage of extra protection through the utilisation of their cloud. By using the software, companies will transfer data seamlessly and securely into the secondary location on the cloud, which can then easily be recovered if the primary location fails.
SteelStore is the market leading solution for secure cloud backup and recovery and is the only cloud-based system that enables customers to securely store their data at up to 90 per cent less than traditional means.
Terry Hanold, VP of cloud commerce at AWS, commented on the announcement: "Providing data backup and recovery solutions on AWS marketplace is essential and we are excited to have Riverbed offer SteelStore for AWS.”
