WAMGROUP Sees ROI in Six Months With Riverbed
Riverbed Technology has announced that WAMGROUP has deployed Riverbed SteelFusion branch converged infrastructure to improve its disaster recovery capabilities.
Formed in 1969, WAMGROUP is an Italian engineering firm that manufactures and supplies equipment for bulk material handling, dust filtration, wastewater, mixing and vibration technology. The company needed more resilient IT support for its corporate office, which is located in the heart of an earthquake zone.
The company turned to Riverbed, the leader in application performance infrastructure, to consolidate its servers and storage into a managed data centre. By using the Riverbed SteelFusion infrastructure WAMGROUP has lowered its IT costs while maintaining local application performance for branch workers.
In May 2012 the company – which has a presence in 43 countries around the world and employs 2,400 employees globally – was hit by two earthquakes in Northern Italy. It caused widespread damage to the whole area, including the business’ head office.
The incident illustrated the need for WAMGROUP to introduce future-proofed solutions. With SteelFusion, WAMGROUP centrally manages virtual machines, applications and data in a data centre and projects them to converged appliances in remote offices.
Marco Malavolta, head of IT infrastructure at WAMGROUP, said: With Riverbed SteelFusion, we’re now much more resilient as a business. We can provision, manage, back up, and recover any of our sites from our central data centre.
“We no longer need to store and manage our data and important systems in high-risk areas. We are now able to instantly recover the business… We’ve seen a return on investment after six months.”
